House has always been considered a very important element Italian Life. It is often the heart of all the “meanings” of their lives. In some other Countries houses are considered differently……always important, but different…indeed they also contain their owner’s lives, but in a quite different way. People in other countries are much more used to move from city to city, from country to country; while in Italy that is still quite unusual. In Italy houses are often lived in for many generations, passed from parents to childrens, and then to their children’s children. Now…to understand it, for people who have never spent any time in Italy, is not easy. The way italians live, in few words…their LifeStyle is absolutely connected with their Houses. My perception of an house , I would say, is a midway between the italian conception and a foreign culture’s concept, but, probably I’m midway too between an italian and a foreigner. You could ask me what italians want from their lives, why they are so fond of their houses, what meaning they give to them…and I’d say that, in my opinion, anybody in Italy could give you a personal answer and tell you slightly different things, but almost nobody, at least I guess, could ever tell you that he doesn’t love his house, however small or big it is.
