Pizza is Italy … and Italy is Pizza, somehow ! The composition of Pizza is easier than you might imagine, is a mixture of water, flour, baking powder, sugar, olive oil and salt. The small balls of dough are prepared with these elements, and left to rise for about an hour and a half, then expansed and flattened with skill, to create a circular shape, and later sprinkled with mozzarella, tomatoes sauce, and many other different ingredients, depending on the type of pizza desired. Pizza is a very old food, it derives from the bread and is thought to originally originate from the Etruscans. History tells us that, however, was perfected in Italy, in 1800. In Naples, in 1889, to celebrate the arrival of Queen Margherita of Savoy, a famous pizza maker offered her some of his pizzas, the Queen preferred that one with tomato and mozzarella, which was renamed, in his name, Margherita pizza.
It is still the most classic of pizzas in Italy and one of the simplest and less expensive. Here in Italy, wherever you are, you will find, certainly a pizzeria nearby. The pizza is actually widespread throughout the territory, in all Cities, regardless of their size. You will be able to enjoy pizza at restaurants or take it home, depending on where you want to eat it. The best drinks to be matched with pizza, in my opinion, are a good cold beer or a coke with ice and lemon.
The main types of Pizza, I think you can find all over the world, are the following:
. Pizza Margherita (tomato and mozzarella)
. Pizza Four Seasons (ham, mozzarella, tomato, sausage, mushrooms, artichokes)
. Pizza Napoletana (tomato, mozzarella, anchovies)
. Pizza Marinara (tomato)
. Pizza Calzone (it’s like kind of a bag, stuffed with mushrooms, tomatoes, ham, cheese and other ingredients)
These above are just some among the most popular pizzas, but, browsing through the menus, you will find many, many other types, with various combinations of ingredients, including even seafood.
