The exhibition “Manet. Return to Venice” is under way at the Civic Museums Foundation of Venice, in collaboration with the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. It will be possible to visit it from April 24 to August 18, 2013 in the Palazzo Ducale’s halls. The Exhibition consists of about eighty pieces, including paintings, drawings and engravings. It was believed that the culture of that time, which influenced the young Manet in the early years of his work, had come from Spain and from the Netherlands, but then it turned out that this influence came instead from some of the great painters of the Italian Renaissance, such as Tintoretto and Titian ( also a few of their splendid works will be exposed ). During his travels in Italy Manet has interpreted, in a contemporary way, some paintings and frescoes by Titian. The exhibition traces his whole artistic life. Even the colors of his works seem to lead to the Italian pictorial tradition.
