Italy: The 2019 European Capitals of Culture

In 2019, Italy and Bulgaria will be the two Countries that will have one of their cities as European Capital of Culture for that year, during which they will show their peculiarities and their cultural development. Italy, which has already had Bologna, Genoa and Florence as capitals of culture in the past, has already nominated the following cities (areas) among which the best one, according to the required qualities, will be chosen in May 2015 : Aosta, Bergamo, Cagliari, Caserta, extended city (Cilento and Vallo di Diano ) with the Campania Region and Southern Italy, Erice, Grosseto and Maremma area, L’Aquila, Lecce, Mantua, Matera, Palermo, Perugia with places of Saint Francis of Assisi and Umbria Pisa, Ravenna, Reggio Calabria, Siena, Syracuse and South East, Taranto, Urbino, Venice and the Northeast.
