Italy is known worldwide for its fantastic products. Since ancient times, the Italians have created a large number of regional recipes, made from a mix of many valuable gifts coming from Mother Nature. As gifts, I mean: fruits, vegetables, meats, cereals and all our foods such as olive oil, pasta, pizza, coffee, pastries, ice cream, cheeses, etc … . Our story has been, to put it mildly, a maze of dominations … with foreign people who before have come, and then, have left the Country, often leaving here their assets and their cultures. This mix of different and far cultures has probably created our cuisine. Italy is, indeed, always been known as the Country of a thousand Municipalities, an area which has often been torn by many Regional wars among private armies. This fragmentation has given rise to a very varied cuisine, and a deep food culture spread among Italian citizens. We would like to express our thanks to the history of Italian food, this wonderful treasure we can share with all the people coming here to visit Italy. Each Region still retains its traditions and its specialties in the form of special recipes, so as to find find local pasta dishes, cheeses, meats cooked in many ways, spices, sweets. You can also discover something important to drink, as great mineral waters and breathtaking wines. Here there are, indeed, the birthplaces of the original Italian sparkling wine, important white and red wines ( Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico, Sassicaia, Pinot, Lambrusco, Vermentino di Gallura, Passito of Pantelleria, the Soave and many, many others ). Here you will find unique waters, both fizzy and still, such as the Sampellegrino’s, one of the most important and valuable waters of the World. The way Italians and foreigners who come here, eat, is an important part of the Italian Way of Life. A concept that is really important to us. In this little Word, in fact, is contained an entire Universe of emotions. What could be better than a show at the Theatre followed by a candlelit dinner in a nice restaurant in company of your life partner, or a quiet walk through the streets and squares of an Art City, followed by a good glass of wine and a tasting of cheese and cold cuts ? Wherever you stop for something to eat in Italy, whether it’s for a typical Italian breakfast with cappuccino and pastry, for a lunch with tomato pasta to match with a red wine into a tavern , or, finally, for a pizza with a fresh glass of beer at a pizza place , you will surely find and enjoy a unique atmosphere. Below we have made a short list of some of those foods that you absolutely have to taste, while travelling around Italy…and our advice is to try them all. Go visit the pages related to:
