Small lobsters grow

After working for many years as a workman at Fiat Mirafiori in Turin, Gianni Usai has decided to return to his island to work as a fisherman . Togheter with other fishermen from Su Pallosu (Oristano ) he has founded a small cooperative for the red Lobster fishing , a precious species that, thanks to  indiscriminate fishing and  the bottom trawling  was risking the extinction in the Mediterranean Sea . For this reason , during the nineties , the cooperative, together with the University of Cagliari , started in his area , a project for the recovery of this species. Subsequently, the project has expanded into 13 other areas of the island. This ” cultivation ” of the sea has produced fantastic results : in his area Usai has detected an increase in the number of lobsters equal to 550 % since the beginning of the project. To celebrate this remarkable achievement and increase the awareness of fishermen and people, Lega Ambiente , OCEAN2012 , Lighthouse Foundation and Ganga Film have produced a short documentary film that tells the story of great love and total respect for the sea of this cooperative .
