Every year from 1969 date of establishment, on the second Sunday of October over 250,000 people, rounded up on the coast of Trieste, follow one of the world’s most crowded challenge: the Barcolana. In this very special international sailing regatta, with a quadrangular course of 15 miles, on a single starting line, professional sailors and amateurs compete side by side with boats of various sizes, divided into categories. As the Regatta of the Maritime Republics (Pisa, Genoa, Venice and Amalfi) and the Historical Regatta of Venice, also the sailing regatta of Barcolana shouldn’t be missed during your stay in Italy.
